Przy okazji tej zbliżającej się premiery, wydająca grę firma Activision, podzieliła się kolejną informacją, ściśle dotyczącą posiadaczy poprzedniego odcinka serii, a mianowicie – wydanej wiosną 2009 roku, bardzo ciepło przyjętej, metallikowej edycji. W Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock będzie można za darmo zagrać utwory z Guitar Hero: Metallica, promocja ma jednak swoje ograniczenia.
Przez tydzień od daty premiery Warriors of Rock, osoby posiadające wersję 'Metallica’ będą mogły za darmo przesłać utwory z tej edycji do najnowszego odcinka serii. Informacja doskonała, gdyby nie jedno, a nawet dwa małe „ale”.
Po pierwsze, transfer będzie dotyczył (tylko i aż) 39 spośród 49 utworów, wykorzystanych w Guitar Hero: Metallica, co jednocześnie stanowi większość wszystkich w ogóle dostępnych w tej „promocji” gratisów.
