We had an opportunity to speak with the voice of the Norwegian beast Kvelertak.

DM: It’s just a couple of weeks since you’ve released your last album „Nattesferd”. What is the feedback from fans, how do they reacts to the new songs?
Erlend: People love it. We’re getting nothing but good reviews. We’re playing as many shows as we can since it goes out. New songs seems to go down very well. So yeah, it’s cool.
How do you feel about „Nattesferd”? Is it the end of some era in your career or the beggining of a new?
It’s definitly not the end. I think it’s out best album so far. We’re really happy with all the songs and how we made it sounds. They’re great to play live, because the’re more dynamic and organic than other two albums. So yeah, we’re happy and then we’ll see how it’ll turn out. We’ve more albums that’ll come after this. At least one more. Then, we’ll see.
Your new record is in many aspects different from your previous works. What are the things that links all of your works and on the other hand what makes „Nattesferd” so different?
Songwriting is similar. There are song that would also work well in previous albums like 'Nattesferd’ or 'Bronsegud’. I think it’s the same balance like in our second album. We have some heavy songs and little more progressive. The biggest difference is just the sound. For me at least.
In many levels your new record is I would say „80-ish”. It reminds me of some bands and songs from the 80’s. What is your favourite band and song from the 80’s? Besides 'Eye Of The Tiger’ of course.
(Laugh) I guess AC/DC and 'Let Me Put My Love Into You’.
Soon you’ll be visiting Poland with 2 gigs. It won’t be your first time here. Did you encountered some unusual things here? Do you have maybe some anecdote connected with Poland?
(Laugh) We’ve been drunk and shitfaced a lot in Poland. A first times when we get there, was like just we came in and the promotor was giving us vodka immediately. That was a pretty drunk show. First time when we were playing the crowd was completely insane. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much stagediving and moshing before.
At the end of this interview could you learn me how to pronounce the title from your last album and tell what do they mean?
’Nattesferd’ means 'night traveler’. 'Dendrofil for Yggdrasil’. I don’t know that you have that word in Polish, but it means that you have a sexual attraction to trees and Yggdrasil is taken from Northern mythology. I think that '1985′ stand by itself. 'Svartmesse’ in religious folklore means black mass. 'Bronsegud’ means bronze god and it’s connected with Illuminati. 'Ondskapens Galakse’ is inspired by Lovecraft and means 'galaxy of evil’. 'Berserkr’ it’s just 'berserk’, and it’s about viking warriors that ate mushrooms and thought that they’re are invincible. They were crazy on a batllefield. 'Heksebrann’ means 'witch fire’ and is about one of the most famous witch burning in Norway. And the last is 'Nekrodamus’. There was 'Nokrokosmos’ in our second album and 'Nekroskop’ in our first album. So I decided to include 'nekro’ song in this album too.
Thank you very much for this interview. It’s been a pleasure.
Thank you.
